PORTLAND, Maine — The owner of a Portland building that was the scene of a fire that killed six people may face charges.

Gregory Nisbet owns the apartment building on Noyes Street. Cumberland County District Attorney Stephanie Anderson offered a plea deal to Nisbet in connection with the fire.

The district attorney’s office said Thursday that those talks concerning the deal have broken down.

The district attorney says charges are likely against Nisbet, but there was no word on exactly what those charges would be.

City investigators discovered a number of code violations in the Noyes Street building.
