EUSTIS, Maine — A Canaan man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover on Gold Brook Road in Franklin County, according to Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Marc Swain, 21, apparently lost control of his Ford Explorer and rolled over into a bunch of small trees around 2 p.m., Nichols said.
Swain’s passenger, Corey Moorehead, 19, of Mercer, was treated at the scene and released, Nichols said. Swain suffered major head trauma and died while en route to a LifeFlight helicopter, the sheriff said.
Initial investigation indicates Swain may have been traveling at an unsafe speed along the dirt road, and he was heading towards Route 27, Nichols said. Neither Swain nor Moorehead were wearing seat belts.
Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
