BREWER — Logan Rogerson legged out a two-run triple, then scored when the throw to third base got away as Brewer escaped with an 8-7 Zone 1 American Legion baseball victory over R.H. Foster of Hampden at Heddericg Field on Wednesday night.

Carter DeRedin got the rally started when he was hit by a pitch, then Jack Corey reached on an error. Two outs later, Rogerson came through in the clutch.

Rogerson added two singles and another RBI for the 10-4 Falcons, while Corey, Dylan Soper and DeRedin each contributed two singles. Brooks picked up the win in relief.

Conner Farmer led 10-5 Hampden with a triple, a single and two RBIs. Tyler Beaton singled twice and Jackson Gilmore added a single and two RBIs.

At Husson University in Bangor, four pitchers combined on a five-hitter as Trenton beat the Coffee News Comrades.

Tom Paola gave up three runs in five-plus innings and struck out seven, before Conor Maguire, Seth Young and Gage Feeney (save) finished out the game.

Joe Archambault sparked the Acadians (9-5) with three singles and an RBI and Hank Vinal singled twice with an RBI. Finn McMahon added two singles with Jake Keenan and Will Ricker each providing an RBI hit.

Andrew Hillier singled twice and drove in a run for Bangor (11-4). Sam Huston doubled and Peter Kemble knocked in a run.

At Bar Harbor, Andrew Kennedy and Jacob Mitchell combined on a four-hitter as the Acadians all-stars beat Bucksport in the tournament opener.

Mitchell hit an RBI single and a double, while Liam Sullivan collected three singles and scored three runs for the winners. Drew Shea hit a single and drove in three runs and Colyn Rich added a double.

Anthony Wardwell singled twice for Bucksport, which received an RBI triple from Luke Wardwell and a run-scoring double. Christian Hurd provided an RBI double.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor on Tuesday night, Benjamin Southwick and Ethan Newcomb each hit two-run doubles to help propel Sebasticook by Lincoln in the District 3 Junior League all-star tourney.

Sebasticook (1-1) rallied for five runs in the fourth to take a 7-3 lead and held off Lincoln (1-2), which was eliminated.

Gabriel Gilley chipped in with two singles for Sebasticook and Southwick added an RBI groundout. Gilley also retired the side in order in the seventh to earn the save.

Brady Harding hit a two-run double and added a sacrifice fly to pace Lincoln. Alex Brown contributed three singles and an RBI groundout while Reece Carter added two singles and an RBI.

At South Berwick, Abigail Orso pitched a five-hitter to lift the York all-stars to victory over Ellsworth in an elimination game at the state tournament.

Isabelle Babcock and Carly Mitchell each rapped two singles among 10 hits for the winners.

Trinity Montigny singled twice to pace Ellsworth, which was eliminated.

Field hockey

Majestic U-19 team loses 2

The Waterville-based Maine Majestix Under-19 team dropped its first two games to teams from Massachusetts in the National Club Field Hockey Championships in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.

NorthEast Elite beat the Majestix 4-1 in the opener before Boston topped the Maine team 3-1 in the nightcap.

Former Winslow High School standout Bethany Winkin, who plays at Bryant University (Rhode Island), scored for the Majestix in the loss to NEE and Belfast’s Kylie Nelson had the goal against Boston.

Nelson led the Majestix Under-16 team (3-3) with five goals in their six games earlier this week.
