PORTLAND, Maine — A Mexico man will spend four-plus years behind bars after being sentenced Wednesday on a firearms charge, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In addition to serving 51 months behind bars, Corey Eustis, 39, will also serve three years of supervised release on a possession of a firearm by a prohibited person charge.
According to court documents, Eustis was convicted of a domestic assault charge on his wife in 2011, and shot himself outside his Bethel residence in August 2012, and responding police found him in possession of three firearms and ammunition.
Eustis was prohibited from possessing weapons due to the prior domestic violence conviction.
In handing down the sentence, Judge Nancy Torresen cited Eustis’ criminal history, which includes multiple drunken-driving convictions and domestic violence incidents involving at least five women.
