FARMINGTON, Maine — A missing one-year-old boy from New Hampshire is found safe in Farmington after an extensive search and an Amber Alert. Now his father is behind bars.
Police say Malachi Grant, of Somersworth, NH, was abducted by his father Thursday afternoon. Police say Jeremiah Grant, 33, of Berwick, took the child around 2:30 p.m. Police issued an amber alert.
An officer spotted Grant’s car on Fairbanks Road in Farmington early Friday morning. According to police, during the contact, Grant fled the stop heading north on Route 4 toward Strong.
Police were able to stop Grant’s vehicle on Route 27 in New Vineyard by deploying road spike.
Grant was arrested on charges of Fugitive from Justice, Eluding Police, Reckless Conduct, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Malachi was checked by paramedics at the scene and determined that he was unharmed. He has now been reunited with his mother.
Police called Grant mentally unstable and a danger to himself and others. He is also a registered sex offender in Maine.
