PORTLAND, Maine — Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies that occurred in the Baxter Boulevard area Friday afternoon.

The first occurred in the Hannaford parking lot on Forest Avenue at 1:45 p.m., while the second occurred about an hour later, according to a news release from Portland police.

During the first incident, an armed man approached a man sitting in his vehicle and demanded his phone, but the robber eventually fled on foot without the phone, the statement said.

Both suspects are described as African-American, about 20 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing dark clothing.
