BREWER, Maine — Bangor picked up its second win and Old Town won its opening game in Senior League District 3 all-star baseball tourney action Friday night at Heddericg Field.
Old Town defeated Sebasticook Valley of the Newport area 12-2 and Bangor shut out Brewer/Orrington 4-0.
Kaleb Gifford earned the pitching win for Old Town in the first game. He was backed up by TJ Crawford, who contributed a triple and single. Gifford aided his cause with a double.
Zack Hartsgrove notched two singles for Sebasticook (1-1) and Cody Rice added a single.
In the second game, Jesse Crawford blanked Brewer/Orrington to earn the win for Bangor. Derek Fournier sparked the offense with three singles and George Payne chipped in with a double and a single.
Cameron Green, Jared Austin and Tyler Williams each recorded a single for Brewer.
Bangor and Old Town advanced to a winners bracket showdown at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Bordick Park in Hampden.
On Sunday, two elimination contests will be held with Holbrook of Holden/Dedham taking on Brewer/Orrington at 6 p.m. in Hampden and Bronco/Hermon battling Sebasticook Valley at 6 p.m. in Brewer.
The winner of the district tourney advances to the Senior League World Series that begins Sunday, Aug. 2 at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.

Westbrook, Saco, Lewiston win
At Ellsworth, Westbrook, Saco and Lewiston each picked up victories in the first day of pool play in the Little League all-star baseball state tourney for the ages 9-10 Friday.
Westbrook topped Waldo County 12-1 in the first game, Saco edged tourney host Ellsworth in game two 7-6 and Lewiston stopped Bangor West 14-3 in the final game.
In the first game, winning pitcher Carter Dow was backed up by Quincy Seavey, who recorded three singles for Westbrook. Reid Gardiner chipped in with a triple while Ben Eugley and Alex Bean each added a double.
Draedyn Furrow singled for Waldo.
In the second game, Brady Graffam singled twice to spark Saco. Will Palmer and Matthew Page each contributed a single and Braden Camire notched the pitching win.
Peter Keblinsky led Ellsworth with two singles and Brett Bragdon added a double.
In the final game, Mike Dymkoski notched three singles to help Lewiston beat Bangor West. Daxton St. Hilaire chipped in with a double while Cooper St. Hilaire and Chase McKeen each added a single. Matt Conner was the winning pitcher.
Matt Holmes, Scott Fahey, Gabe Conner and Colby Johnson each recorded a single for Bangor West.
D3, Junior League
Holbrook 12, Houlton 1
At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Levi Williamson pitched a five-inning complete game, scattering six hits while walking three and striking out three to help give Holbrook of Holden/Dedham the victory in an elimination-round game of the District 3 Junior League all-star tourney.
Holbrook is now 2-1 and Houlton (1-2) was eliminated.
Jacob Munroe sparked Holbrook with a triple and two singles while Alex Gagnon and Williamson each chipped in with with two singles and two RBIs.
Keegan Gentle recorded three singles for Houlton and Justin Tuck doubled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Noah Missbrenner and Eric Cammack combined on a five-inning no-hitter, with Cammack issuing a walk and hitting a batter in the fourth as Bangor advanced in the District 3 Junior League tourney.
Bangor is now 2-1 and Sebasticook (1-2) of the Newport area was eliminated.
Zach Cowperthwaite and Zach Murray each singled twice for Bangor with Cowperthwaite driving in two runs and Murray plating one.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Thursday night, Brewer/Orrington sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth inning, scoring seven runs, to break open a two-run game in the District 3 Junior League all-star tourney.
Daniel Sprague sparked Brewer/Orrington with a triple, double, single and five RBIs. Zach Steiger chipped in with an RBI double and two singles while Marty Hewes added an RBI double and single. Braiden Umel contributed two singles and Josiah Cyr had an RBI double.
Nick Perfitt recorded four singles and two RBIs for Houlton.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Thursday night Bronco-Hermon rallied from an 8-1 deficit with a seven-run fifth inning and added another run in the sixth and four in the seventh to earn the Junior League win over Bangor.
Keith Pomeroy sparked Bronco/Hermon (2-0) with three singles and two RBIs. Rece Poulin and Alex Applebee each added two singles and Nick Lorenzo had an RBI double. Wyatt Harriman earned the pitching win in relief, allowing no runs, a hit and a walk in two innings.
Tyrese Edwards, Nick Crichton and Kevin Fish each singled for Bangor (1-1). Bangor scored all eight of its runs despite being held hitless through the first three innings, capitalizing on nine walks and three errors.

At Waldoboro, Trevor DeLaite pitched a complete game three-hitter, striking out 11, as Coffee News of Bangor beat Midcoast of Rockland in senior American Legion action.
Jordan Derrah led the Coffee News attack with four hits and an RBI while Peter Kemble added three hits and an RBI. Andrew Hillier provided two hits and two RBIs while DeLaite contributed two hits and an RBI.
Ryan Brookings, Ben Crichton, and Johnny Cote all chipped in with RBI hits for Coffee News.
For Midcoast, Mike Wolff had two singles and Ollie Brown added a single.

Biddeford, South Portland win
At Ellsworth, Biddeford defeated Ellsworth 12-4 and South Portland beat Lincoln 11-1 in the first day of pool play in the Little League all-star state softball tourney for ages 9-10 Friday.
In the first game, Biddeford’s Charlotte Donovan allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out 16 to lead her team to victory.
Donovan aided her own cause with a double and two singles. Hannah Gosselin and Adrianna Ledoux each chipped in with two singles.
Casey Carter notched two singles for Ellsworth.
In the second game, South Portland’s Mia Micucci threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 to lead her team to victory.
Julia Flaherty sparked the offense with a home run and a double.
