BANGOR, Maine — The American Legion Zone 1 baseball all-star game scheduled for Saturday evening has been postponed until July 27, according to Zone 1 commissioner Dave Paul.

Inclement weather was cited as one reason, along with concerns about pitching depth as all 10 Zone 1 teams face back-to-back games Sunday and Monday to conclude the regular season.

The all-star game, featuring players from all the Zone 1 teams, will be held at 7 p.m. on its new date at Husson University.

Zone 1 standings through Friday evening indicated a tight battle at the top of the 10-team standings as well as another close race for the sixth and final berth for the zone tournament that will begin Wednesday at Husson University.

Coffee News of Bangor and Post 51 of Oakland currently share the Zone 1 lead with 12-4 records, with 11-4 Brewer facing 10-5 Trenton in a makeup game Saturday.

Coffee News, Post 51 and Brewer have all split their two-game regular-season series against each other.

R.H. Foster of Hampden is fifth in the standings with a 10-6 record, with Motor City of Orono sixth at 9-7 and the RTD 39ers of Madison seventh at 8-8.
