MACHIAS, Maine — The town is advertising for a new manager and applicants have until July 31 to apply.

Former Machias Town Manager Christopher Loughlin resigned June 5. The town has been without a manager since.

Sandra Clifton, who works in the town office, said Monday that advertisements have been placed in area newspapers and in publications of the Maine Municipal Association.

Clifton hopes the town can get someone in place quickly.

“I’m hoping for the end of next month at the latest,” she said.

She and co-workers Megan Dennison and Jane Foss have been handling the former manager’s duties, in addition to their own, she said.

Clifton said she wasn’t sure if the town had any applicants yet.
