CAMDEN, Maine — A local man made his initial court appearance Monday afternoon after his arrest Sunday evening for dealing in heroin, according to police.

Justin Luszczki, 31, was arrested Sunday evening at a Camden motel and charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs and violating a condition of release. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland.

Judge Susan Sparaco set bail at $10,000 cash during his first appearance in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.

Rockport police arrested Luszczki Sunday afternoon during a traffic stop and charged him from outstanding warrants for possession of heroin and violating a condition of release. The new charge was classified as aggravated trafficking because of prior drug convictions.

Upon further investigation and having received reports of a large amount of people going in and out of the motel room he was staying at in Camden, police obtained a search warrant and officers from Camden, Rockport and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency went through the room. They allegedly found 6 grams of heroin, $13,000 in cash hidden throughout the room, drug paraphernalia, scales and packaging material.

The name of the motel was not released.

Another person in the room with Luszczki at the time also was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin. Cammi Colby, 19, was released on bail and is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Sept. 14.
