SACO, Maine — A local business is being scrutinized and it’s all a big mix-up. The general manager says people are confusing Funtown Splashtown in Saco with a business in San Antonio, Texas which he says is currently under fire for an employee allegedly mistreating a child with Autism.
Cory Hutchinson, the GM of Funtown Splashtown, says he panicked when he got into work Saturday morning. He arrived to dozens of posts on social media and phone calls bashing his business. He says immediately they came up with a plan and they’ve been reaching out to people on social media non-stop with the correct information.
Hutchinson says it’s too soon to know if it’s affecting business but he’s trying to put an end to the rumors before it gets to that point. He told CBS 13, “You can’t tell these things until it’s a little bit more long-term so that’s why we’re continuing with our diligence and letting everyone know that this wasn’t us. We’re on Facebook, we’re on Twitter constantly to let people know that this incident isn’t us. It’s a different park altogether.”
He made it clear the business is in no way associated with the Splashtown in San Antonio.
