BANGOR, Maine — Maine single-family home sales rose by double digits in June as prices hit a seven-year high but grew more slowly than in recent months.

The Maine Realtors Association reported 1,788 homes changed hands in June, up 18 percent from the 1,513 homes sold for the same month last year.

The median sale price for those homes rose at a much slower pace, at 1.5 percent, to $187,700.

That rise in median prices was behind May, at 8.9 percent, and all other months this year except for January, when the median price of homes declined 3.9 percent from the year before.

While growing slower than recent months, the median sale price for June hit a seven-year high, outpacing the median June price sale for all years back to 2009.

The sales for June are likely the highest or close to the highest the state will see this year, as that month averaged more sales than any other for the five years from 2009 to 2014.
