GORHAM, Maine — Gorham Police detectives are looking for two suspects after a home invasion on Huston Road Sunday afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Dana Thompson says two men forced their way into a home through a back door and assaulted a woman on their way in. Thompson says the suspects stole items from the home but is not saying what was stolen.

“We’re not sure that there’s any drug connection yet as far as at the house,” Thompson said Thursday. “We’re exploring options that maybe it was the wrong house, the wrong person. We don’t know so it’s still early on.”

Police say the suspects fled on foot in the direction of Route 237 near Hannah Drive. A K-9 unit from Windham was on the scene Sunday, but police could not track down the suspects. Police say they are looking for two white men in their 20s. One has black hair and bushy eyebrows, the other has brown hair. Both were wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans Sunday. Police are now asking for the public’s help.

“We haven’t found any indication that suggests the public is at risk,” Thompson said. “We would encourage the public to stay vigilant stay safety minded as always be aware of your surroundings anything could happen.”

The incident has neighbors worried.

“It’s definitely made us more aware of the fact that we need to lock our doors even when we are home,” said Cassie Ashton, who lives on Huston Road.

Another neighbor Nicole Bishop has lived in Gorham 15 years. She says this kind of activity isn’t typical.

“It’s not common around where I live so yes, it’s nerve wracking,” Bishop said.

Police are looking for people who were near Huston Road or Route 237 on Sunday afternoon. If you believe you may have information that can help the investigation contact Gorham Police Detective Steven Rappold at 222-1660.
