PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Sea Dogs set a season high with 21 hits and defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 10-5 Friday night in Eastern League baseball action at Hadlock Field.
The Sea Dogs got off to a hot start, scoring five runs on six hits in the second inning off of Fisher Cats’ starter John Anderson (5-5). Portland added two more runs on four hits in the third and three runs on four hits in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead after four innings of play.
All nine Sea Dogs in the lineup recorded at least one hit and eight of nine scored at least one run. Oscar Tejeda went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Tim Roberson finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Tzu-Wei Lin went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, and David Chester went 3-or-5 with a double and two RBIs.
The 21 hits are the most the Sea Dogs have registered in a single game this year. Their last 20-hit game came on May 15, 2014, at New Britain. The last time the Sea Dogs had recorded over 20 hits at Hadlock Field was when they set a franchise record with 23 hits on April 26, 2009, against Connecticut.
Mike McCarthy (6-4) earned the win, allowing one earned run on five hits in five innings, walking three and striking out two.
