Achievement award

AREA — The Phi Beta Kappa Association of Maine has announced the 2015 winners of the Academic Achievement Award. This year, 121 schools throughout the state participated in the award program. Phi Beta Kappa Academic Achievement Awards are conferred on a high school junior from each participating school, who demonstrates high academic achievement and intellectual curiosity both in and outside of the classroom, and who is going on to higher education. By sponsoring these awards, the Phi Beta Kappa Association of Maine seeks to recognize outstanding high school students and to highlight the value of the liberal arts and sciences.

Area students who received the award were Abigail Hall, Bangor Christian School; Tyler DeFroscia, Bangor High School; Jamison Rhoads-Doyle, Brewer High School; Hunter Gross, Bucksport High School; Katrina Bradford, Central High School, Corinth; Abigail Elkins, Hampden Academy; Ali Reynolds, Hermon High School; Katherine Larochelle, John Bapst Memorial High School, Bangor; Julia Van Steenberghe, Old Town High School; and Rosemary Hastey, Orono High School.

Franklin Pierce University

BANGOR — Sharon Mary Anderson of Bangor graduated recently with a doctoral degree in leadership studies from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire.

STILLWATER — David Wilcox of Stillwater was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire.

University of Maine Farmington

These area students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Maine Farmington:
