BRUNSWICK, Maine — Police believe a 27-year-old Bath woman suffered a medical emergency while driving on Maine Street just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, triggering a series of crashes that damaged five vehicles and nearly injured patrons of Joshua’s Tavern.
The woman was headed north on Maine Street near the intersection of Maine and Pleasant streets when her 1999 Pontiac crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2002 Subaru that was stopped at a traffic light, Brunswick Police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said Wednesday.
The Pontiac continued, crossing back into the southbound lane before striking a 2011 Subaru parked in front of Joshua’s. The Subaru then struck a 2008 Ford truck and a 1995 Ford pickup truck.
The woman was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of the medical problem that reportedly triggered the incident, as well as possible broken bones.
The driver of the 2002 Subaru was not injured, nor were the people in an outside seating area at Joshua’s, according to police.
Maine Street was closed for about an hour while the crash was investigated, according to Hagan.
