GRAY, Maine — Severe thunderstorms were expected to rumble through the state again Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for portions of Kennebec and Androscoggin counties Wednesday afternoon, according to the weather service.

The storms were capable of producing quarter-size hail and winds in excess of 60 mph. Affected areas included Livermore Falls, Winthrop, Leeds, Livermore, Fayette, Wayne and Monmouth.

Torrential downpours and flash flooding also were possible. Motorists were urged not to drive vehicles through flooded roadways.
