DAMARISCOTTA, Maine — A Bristol teen faces charges of aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon after allegedly running over a man in Damariscotta on Thursday night.
The 17-year-old was driving a Mini Cooper through Damariscotta’s back parking lot when he saw Jonathan W. Snell, 22, of Damariscotta, who motioned for the teen to call him, according to Damariscotta police Officer Kyle Sylvester.
The teen allegedly circled through the parking lot, returned to Snell’s location and stopped. Snell approached the vehicle, and the vehicle allegedly “accelerated, turned toward Snell, and ran him over,” Sylvester said.
“The tires went over (Snell),” Sylvester said. “He went underneath the car.”
The juvenile then allegedly left the scene.
Lincoln County Communications dispatched police at about 9:50 p.m., according to Sylvester. The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service took Snell to LincolnHealth-Miles Campus, where he was treated and released.
Sheriff’s deputies found the teen and took him to the Damariscotta Police Department, where he was arrested and then taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
He faces charges of Class B aggravated assault and Class C reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, both felonies, and Class E driving to endanger, a misdemeanor.
The juvenile and Snell apparently had an ongoing dispute about an ex-girlfriend, according to Sylvester.
