OTISFIELD, Maine — Six of the eight people injured in a boating accident on Thompson Lake on Thursday have been discharged from the hospital, according to the Maine Warden Service.

Two boats, one driven by Kenneth Bartow of Biddeford and another by Matthew Nolan of Maryland, crashed into each other shortly after noon, according to a statement from the warden service.

The injured included five juveniles, one of which was a 9-year-old boy who had to be brought via LifeFlight helicopter, the statement read. In all, eight people were brought to a hospital.

All occupants of Bartow’s boat were ejected before the vessel continued unmanned before going ashore. The injured parties of Bartow’s boat were given a ride to shore to receive medical treatment.
