PORTLAND, Maine — Local police are searching for the man who allegedly attempted to rob at knifepoint a man who had just used an ATM machine on Union Street about 4 p.m. Saturday.
The victim foiled the robbery when he attempted to grab the knife, Portland police Lt. Robert Martin said Saturday.
The suspect fled on foot and the victim walked to the police station to report the incident, according to Martin. The victim cut his hand but did not require medical treatment.
Police described the alleged assailant as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and wearing khaki pants and a white tank top.
