BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Police Department will be hosting their annual National Night Out on Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m., according to a police statement.

Bangor is one of 15,000 communities nationwide participating in National Night Out, an event designed to strengthen communities to engage in stronger relationships with each other and law enforcement.

The event is a collaborative effort between the West Side and East Side neighborhood watch groups and is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.

The event will take place at Stillwater Park on Howard Street. Residents are asked to turn on porch lights between 6 and 8 p.m. in support of National Night Out.
