NEWPORT, Maine — A Howland man was injured Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle he was driving ran into the back of an SUV on Route 7, according to police.
Dale Cote, 41, had just pulled onto Route 7 from a motorcycle show at BB’s Tattoo when the accident occurred around 1 p.m., according to Police Chief Leonard Macdaid.
After leaving the show, Cote apparently popped a wheelie, lost control of his bike and ran into the back of the SUV, according to Macdaid.
Roughly 30 to 40 people ran to Cote’s aid and Newport police Lt. Randy Wing responded quickly, Macdaid said.
The SUV had an undisclosed amount of damage and its driver, Eric Blais, 34, of West Gardiner, was not injured, Macdaid said.
Cote was transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital for treatment.
