WASHINGTON — Maine Sen. Susan Collins has endorsed Jeb Bush for president; Gov. Paul LePage has endorsed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
But Maine’s third-ranking elected Republican, 2nd District U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin, has not jumped into the GOP presidential sweepstakes.
“I am meeting with these candidates one at a time and making sure I look them in the eyes and understand what they believe, how they think and how they can help our families in Maine. That is the primary concern that I have,” Poliquin said.
Poliquin said how a presidential candidate plans to build the nation’s economy is a major factor in who he will support.
Candidates’ positions on national security also will weigh heavily in his decision, according to Poliquin.
