PITTSFIELD, Maine — A Detroit man was arrested Sunday after a domestic disturbance turned into a manhunt, according to police.
The series of events leading to the arrest of Steven Duke, 22, started when police responded to a residence after a reported domestic disturbance, Pittsfield police Sgt. Timothy Roussin said.
A woman who answered the door at the residence said Duke, who is the father of the woman’s child, had left, but while Officer Henry Ouellette was investigating a traffic accident, police were notified that Duke had returned and was armed with a handgun.
Roussin said the woman had locked the residence and Duke never got inside despite constant pounding on the door.
Duke fled into nearby woods when police arrived, spurring a manhunt between Pittsfield police, state police and Somerset County sheriff’s deputies.
Duke was quickly located and arrested without incident, the sergeant said. He was charged with aggravated reckless conduct, domestic violence criminal threatening and OUI and taken to the Somerset County Jail.
No injuries were reported.
