POLAND, Maine — Emergency crews were called to the Poland Spring bottling plant for an ammonia leak Thursday.
“Our fire chief is on-scene commander,” Poland Town Manager Brad Plante said. “What I do know is it is still leaking and they are going through the process of determining where it is coming from.”
A spokesman for Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston said it had received two patients from the mishap and they were being treated in the hospital’s emergency department. Another two patients were being transported to the hospital and were expected soon, said Randy Dustin, the hospital spokesman.
A hazmat team was called to the scene.
