SEBAGO, Maine — A Massachusetts man charged in May with sexually assaulting a woman he met on a website for abused women has been indicted on six felony counts related to that alleged incident, as well as 48 felony counts of possession of child pornography.
William Francis Duffy, 58, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, allegedly engaged in a three-week chat with a 31-year-old woman through a website for abused women, then arranged to assist the woman with escaping from a group home in Carver, Massachusetts, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said in May.
Duffy allegedly drove the woman, whom the sheriff’s office said “has some mental health issues,” to his summer camp in Sebago and had sex with her against her will. During the assault, the victim dialed 911 and hid the cellphone under her pillow, the sheriff’s office said.
Duffy allegedly threatened her that if she did not comply, he would tie her up and assault her anyway.
Deputies from the sheriff’s office arrested him the afternoon of May 2.
A Cumberland County grand jury indicted Duffy on four counts of Class B felony gross sexual assault as well as Class B and C counts of unlawful sexual contact.
The indictment also charges him with 48 counts of possession of sexually explicit materials of a child under 12.
No further information was immediately available on Thursday.
