YARMOUTH, Nova Scotia — The Canadian Coast Guard found the vessel belonging to a 31-year-old man from Long Island who had been reported missing on Aug. 2, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Friday evening in a news release.

Dana L. Moy was last seen riding his bicycle on Sunday on Long Island, according to a release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. Before his disappearance, Moy had left messages for family and friends that they would not find him alive.

Moy’s white 2005 Carolina Skiff 17-foot boat, with a 70-horsepower outboard motor, was found about 12 miles off Yarmouth, Nova Scotia with a deceased male believed to be Moy onboard. The coast guard was towing the boat Friday to shore, where the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will continue the investigation.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available. Moy’s family has been informed of the developments.
