Bangor

BANGOR — The first practice for Bangor High School boys and girls cross country will be held on Monday, Aug. 17, at the Bangor High tennis courts from 3-4:45 p.m. Contact coach Adam Goode at 991-7000 or Bangor High School for more information.

Bangor High School golf tryouts will begin at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 17, at Bangor Municipal Golf Course. All those interested will meet at the golf course with appropriate golf attire, and equipment. Information regarding Bangor High School golf can be found at http://www.bangorschools.net/.

CORINTH — Central High School will be holding its mandatory sports information night for parents on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Central High School gym. Tryouts start on Monday, Aug. 17 as follows: Field hockey, Monday 5-7 p.m., Tuesday 3-5 p.m., Wednesday 5-7 p.m.; boys soccer, Monday 5:30-8 p.m., Tuesday 3-5 p.m., Wednesday 5:30-8 p.m.; girls soccer, Monday 6-8 p.m., Tuesday 3-5 p.m., Wednesday 6-8 p.m.; cross country, Tuesday and Wednesday 8-9:30 a.m.

Foxcroft Academy

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Preseason practices begin on Monday, Aug. 17 when all freshmen, juniors and new students must have proof of a physical exam. Physicals will be offered at the school at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 for $10. Co-curricular contracts may be picked up in the main office Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Individual sports practice times are: football, 9-11 a.m. and 4-6 p .m.; boys soccer 2-5:30 p.m., girls soccer 4-6:30 p.m.; cross country 4-6 p.m.; golf 4-6 p.m.; cheering 5-7 p.m.; field hockey 5:30-8 p.m.

Nokomis

NEWPORT — Any Nokomis High School student interested in playing a fall sport must attend tryouts and have a current physical exam to participate. Dates for custom mouth guard: Aug. 14 6-8 p.m.; Aug. 15 8 a.m. to noon. First tryouts are all on Aug. 17: boys soccer, 8-10 a.m.; field hockey 8-10 a.m., 5:30-7 p.m.; girls soccer 6-8 p.m., golf (at Palmyra GC) 10 a.m. to noon; and football 8-11 a.m.

ORONO — Fall sports information night, 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16; individual sport breakout sessions will follow. All athletes must have the following paperwork completed prior to first practices on Monday, Aug. 17: proof of physical (green card), white medical card, signed co-curricular contract. All freshmen or first-year students will be IMPACT (concussion) tested at the beginning of the first week of preseason. All forms available in high school main lobby, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

HOWLAND — Penobscot Valley High School will hold its annual fall meeting for parents, players and coaches at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11 in the school’s study hall.
