AUGUSTA, Maine — A local man who was convicted on his ninth drunken-driving charge in April and who had served five weeks of his sentence at the Maine State Prison in Warren, has died, Deputy Corrections Commissioner Jody Breton said in a Saturday email.
Peter Dubord, 55, was serving a 10-year sentence, with all but seven years suspended, Breton said.
No cause of death was given.
“The prisoner’s death occurred approximately 2:30 p.m.” Saturday, Breton said. “Consistent with the department policy and the Attorney General’s Office protocols, the State Police and the Medical Examiner were notified. Both are reviewing the death.”
Dubord’s ninth drunken-driving offense occurred last September in China. Dubord’s drunken-driving record dates back to 1979, and the charge was increased to a Class B felony due to prior convictions, Kennebec County District Attorney Maeghan Maloney said at the time of his conviction.
