WATERBORO, Maine — A local woman has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries at summer residences in York County, according to Sheriff William King.

Samantha Coan, 18, was located late last month when sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary of a Waterboro residence, and found her and a teenage boy inside, King said.

King said the duo was subsequently connected to a string of other burglaries in Waterboro, Shapleigh and Newfield. In addition, deputies identified three other suspects, another teenage boy and two teenage girls.

The names of the juveniles were not released because they are under the age of 18.

Coan was arrested and charged with one count of burglary and is scheduled to appear in court in September. Three of the four juveniles were also summoned for burglary and released to their parents’ custody.

Several stolen items have been recovered and the case remains under investigation.
