CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for questioning in connection with a hit-and-run accident Monday on the U.S. Route 1 bypass.

Police said in a press release issued Tuesday that they were looking for 26-year-old Adam Jalbert of Fort Fairfield in connection with the accident that happened on the bypass Monday in the area of Hogan Tire.

The release did not provide more specifics about what Jalbert struck or at what time, but it indicated that Jalbert’s vehicle later was located on Bowles Road in Caribou where the driver “took off through the woods.”

Police added that Jalbert is wanted on warrants and may be staying in the Fort Fairfield area. Police could not immediately be reached for more information about the warrants.

Jalbert is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He last was seen wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

Anyone with information about Jalbert’s whereabouts is urged to call local police or the Caribou Police Department at 493-3301.
