SACO, Maine — A Saco man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at the Community Pharmacy on Main Street, according to police.

William Day, 40, was taken into custody minutes after store personnel called police, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland.

The robbery occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, and police were called as Day was fleeing, Holland said.

Day had jumped the pharmacy counter, demanded oxycodone and subsequently fled, Holland said.

As he was canvassing the area, Saco Officer Shawn Labrecque was flagged down by a witness who stated Day had allegedly fled down a back alley and over a fence. The officer allegedly found Day in a wooded area on School Street.

Day initially refused to comply, Holland said, and backup Officer Theodore Gagnon deployed his Taser before Day was taken into custody.

After being treated for minor injuries at Southern Maine Health Care, Day was charged with robbery and taken to the York County Jail, where bail was set at $50,000 cash.
