PORTLAND, Maine — Two men and a woman were arrested early Tuesday in connection with a robbery at a city motel, police said.
The series of events leading to the arrests of Benjamin Jackson, 26, Stephen Kubari, 26, and Kristeina Marbuk, 21, all of Portland, started at 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to a disturbance at the Travelodge motel on Brighton Avenue, according to a police statement.
The alleged robbery occurred in a room, the statement said, and the suspects assaulted and robbed the victims of medication, a wallet, money and a cellphone.
Jackson also allegedly brandished a handgun, which has not been recovered, the statement said.
The trio of robbers fled the scene, and police spotted the vehicle on Capisic Street, the statement said. Officers managed to stop the vehicle on the Fore River Parkway and all three suspects were arrested.
All three were charged with robbery and Jackson was also charged with assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, trafficking in prison contraband and unlawful possession of schedule W drugs.
The victims, a 27-year-old woman and 43-year-old man, were treated for injuries at the scene.
