MARIAVILLE, Maine — Twenty-three people under the age of 21, including a Hampden woman who was arrested, are facing charges after the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department busted up an apparent underage drinking party Wednesday night.

According to Lt. Chris Thornton of the sheriff’s department, the gathering on the shore of Graham Lake was hosted by Laura Doyon, 18, of Hampden. About 60 young adults, minors and juveniles were at the party, which was being held in honor of a 17-year-old girl’s birthday, Thornton said.

Doyon was arrested on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor, according to Thornton. Seven people 18 years old or older were charged with illegal possession of liquor by a minor, he said, including:

— Robert Benton, 18, of Dedham.

— Brandon Brayley, 20, of Ellsworth.

— Gregory Charalambous, 20, of Brewer.

— Riley Eastman, 18, of Hampden.

— Marissa Gould, 18, of Holden.

— Jason Hoffpauir, 20, of Winter Harbor.

— Ashley Simon, 19, of Newburgh.

Also charged with illegal possession of liquor by a minor were 15 juveniles, either 15 or 16 years old, who live in Bangor, Brewer, Clifton, Hampden, Holden, Old Town and Orrington, according to Thornton.

He said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely.
