CARIBOU, Maine — Local police continued searching Thursday for a Fort Fairfield man who is wanted for questioning in connection with an alleged hit-and-run accident that took place in the city on Monday.
Adam Jalbert, 26, still had not turned himself in as of Thursday, according to Caribou police Sgt. Paul Vincent.
Vincent said Jalbert was driving Monday on the U.S. Route 1 bypass when his vehicle struck another car in the area of Hogan Tire. Jalbert then took off before abandoning his vehicle on Bowles Road in Caribou and fleeing into the woods, according to Vincent.
Vincent said Jalbert is wanted on warrants out of Piscataquis County, but information on the nature of those warrants was not available Thursday.
Police believe he may be staying in the Fort Fairfield area.
“Anyone who is hiding him could be charged with a crime, too,” Vincent said.
Jalbert is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He last was seen wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
