FAIRFIELD, Maine — A Skowhegan woman was killed Tuesday on Middle Road when her vehicle struck a tree head-on, according to police.
Jarrica Gomes, 24, was traveling north around 5 p.m. when her Ford Explorer crossed the center line and struck the tree, according to Fairfield Police Chief Tom Gould.
Gomes was killed instantly, according to Gould.
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, but it occurred during a heavy rainstorm, and standing water on the road may have been a factor, Gould said.
The crash remains under investigation.
