Registrations for the upcoming 2015 Eastern Maine Fall Baseball League close Aug. 17. This developmental baseball league is designed for children ages 8-12 (cannot turn 13 before September 6, to be eligible). The EMFBL does not allow all-star teams to enter the league. BICYCLING

BOSTON — Hundreds of environmental, sustainability, transportation and bicycling advocates will come together from across the country to ride in the inaugural Climate Ride Northeast — Bar Harbor to Boston Thursday-Monday, Sept. 17-21, for a 320-mile bike-athon. Participants will raise awareness and funds for sustainability, cycling advocacy, active transportation and environmental causes. The event goal is to raise $400,000. Climate Ride Northeast — Bar Harbor to Boston is a fully supported bike-athon, which provides meals, snacks, bike support, luggage transport and lodging for participants along the route. All riders must raise a minimum of $2,800 by Sept. 11 in order to participate. Participants can enter the discount code climateride2015 for $25 off their registration fees. FOOTBALL

BANGOR — The Bangor Chapter of Maine Football Officials will begin classes for prospective officials for 11 weeks at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 18, in the lecture hall at Bangor High School. New officials will be allowed and encouraged to referee middle school and youth league games this fall once the basic rules are covered. ORONO — The University of Maine football team will host its annual Meet the Black Bears Free Football Clinic at 6 p .m. Aug. 26 at Alfond Stadium. All ages are welcome and participants will have the opportunity to meet players and coaches, get free posters and autographs as well take part in a free pizza party with the team. WINTER HARBOR — The 18th annual Schoodic Scramble charity golf event, Saturday, Sept. 12, at Grindstone Neck Golf Course. Golfers will play 18 holes with either a morning or afternoon tee time. Proceeds from the Schoodic Scramble benefit the Eleanor Widener Dixon Memorial Clinic in Gouldsboro, an outpatient family practice of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.
