PITTSTON, Maine — The owner of a Pittston boarding house died Saturday night after being stabbed by a tenant, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Dale Clifford, 51, died in the ambulance en route to MaineGeneral in Augusta, McCausland said late Sunday afternoon.
Clifford, who operated the boarding house at 1135 East Pittston Road with his wife, Debra, was stabbed by the tenant during a confrontation there Saturday night, according to McCausland.
Police have not identified the tenant and no arrests or charges had been made as of late Sunday afternoon.
The investigation into the stabbing death continued Sunday afternoon as police conducted interviews and consulted with the state medical examiner and the Maine Attorney General’s Office, McCausland said.
