PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland and Yarmouth shared working space Think Tank Coworking plans to open another location in Biddeford in October, at the city’s Pepperell Mill campus.

The Biddeford office space, on the same model as its other locations, will offer general memberships that allow access to first-come-first-served desks and work stations and higher-level memberships with dedicated desks or private office space.

Will Kany, leasing director for the renovated mill buildings, said in a prepared statement he thinks the addition will fill a need for young companies and entrepreneurs.

“I really think that they will fill the need for freelance workers or small startups that are looking for smaller office space that already has all the bells and whistles,” Kany said.

Patrick Roche, founder of Think Tank, said he projects further growth for the concept, driven by economic forces.

“Ultimately, we will see Think Tanks cropping up in satellite cities around the country as people discover the power of a bottom-up approach to economic recovery,” Roche said.

Roche said in a statement that he’s also considering expansions to other areas of the state, including Lewiston or Auburn, Waterville and Brunswick.

He said the new space in Biddeford is expected to open Oct. 1.

The BDN leases space at Think Tank’s Portland location.
