ROCKLAND, Maine — Rockland Fire and Emergency Medical Services will be going door-to-door in different neighborhoods over the next few weeks to hand out fliers for the Red Cross’ home fire preparedness campaign.
The Red Cross plans to install 10-year life smoke detectors at no cost after a brief in-home survey. The installation team also will provide information on home fire safety as well as other emergency preparedness topics.
Each home survey is expected to take approximately 20 minutes.
Those who would like to learn about the program can visit www.redcross.org/me and click on the “Home Fire Preparedness Campaign,” email firesafety4me@redcross.org, or call and leave a message at 874-1192, ext. 113.
The Rockland department and the Red Cross intend to get as many detectors installed as possible between the end of August and mid-September.
