BALDWIN, Maine — Sheriff’s deputies believe a Cornish man who was seriously injured in a Wednesday night crash on Depot Road may have been drinking before the crash.
Stephen Gammon, 36, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce.
Deputies arrived at 8:13 p.m. Wednesday to find that a 2001 Saturn sedan Gammon allegedly was driving had struck a tree.
Skid marks indicated Gammon had crossed the centerline, overcorrected and slid off the road sideways before striking the tree.
Rescue crews extricated him from the vehicle.
A blood sample was taken from Gammon, and deputies believe Gammon was drinking before the crash, according to the news release.
