BANGOR, Maine — A local man is facing an aggravated assault charge after an alleged stabbing in the city’s Capehart neighborhood Thursday evening.

Terence Lawhorn, 40, and the 23-year-old female victim were in a relationship, according to Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton.

Officers responded to an Acadia Place residence shortly after 10 p.m., when a domestic dispute between the pair was reported, the sergeant said.

Officers arrived to find the woman suffering from multiple stab wounds in her lower back, Cotton said.

Lawton apparently fled the area on foot before police arrived, but officers quickly found him running in the area of the Downeast School.

Lawhorn was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and violating conditions of release.

The victim was brought to a local hospital by paramedics. Lawhorn was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Friday.
