NEWPORT, Maine — Newport police are seeking a 24-year-old local man in connection with an assault Sunday night on his girlfriend, Newport police Chief Leonard Macdaid said Monday.
Anthony Mann was arguing with his girlfriend over an EBT card when Mann allegedly spit in her face, held her on the bed and then hit her in the forehead, Macdaid said in a news release. The girlfriend’s name was withheld because she is a victim.
Macdaid said Mann jumped out a side window and ran into the woods before police arrived. The victim, who suffered a bump on her forehead, refused medical attention, Macdaid said.
The Newport Police Department is trying to locate Mann.
Anyone who comes in contact with him is asked to call the police station at 368-3263. Mann also is the subject of an active arrest warrant from another law enforcement agency, Macdaid said.
