AUGUSTA, Maine — Attorney General Janet Mills announced on Wednesday that her office will not file any criminal charges against anyone in connection with the sex abuse allegations made by Matthew Lauzon.
One of the men at the center of the investigation was a former Biddeford police officer. Lauzon claimed he was abused by the former officer and another man when he was a teenager living in Biddeford many years ago.
Mills said that a thorough investigation by her office and a legal analysis by senior prosecutors concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove the elements of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt, including the element of Lauzon’s age at the time of the alleged encounters.
The attorney general’s office said they anticipate no further action in the matter.
