AUBURN, Maine — A boil water order was in effect in parts of Auburn after a tractor trailer took out a fire hydrant.

The problem with the hydrant caused three nearby water mains to break in the area of Grant, Pine and School streets.

Water was gushing out onto the streets when it happened Tuesday afternoon.

Sink holes formed around the breaks on each street. The water is back on for everyone now but officials are asking residents to boil their water until further notice. They expect the boil water order to be lifted for everyone on Thursday.
