CUSHING, Maine — A 30-year-old man who was arrested Monday night pleaded guilty at his initial court appearance Wednesday to assaulting his girlfriend and her two children.
Allen W. Boody entered the guilty pleas in Knox County Unified Court to three assault charges, against the advice of attorney for the day William Pagnano. Judge Susan Sparaco questioned Boody about his plea, but the man remained adamant that he wanted to plead guilty and get the matter behind him.
Boody was arrested Monday night and taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. His plea resulted in a sentence of 364 days in jail with all but 30 days suspended. When released, he will be placed on probation for two years during which time he must undergo anger management counseling and participate in a domestic violence prevention program.
The woman called 911 Monday to report the assaults, according to an affidavit filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. She told police that Boody had been drinking and was agitated. She said he pushed her, closed the door on the head of her 7-year-old daughter, and roughly picked up her 8-year-old daughter and put her outside the home when he locked them out of a residence they shared on the River Road in Cushing, according to the affidavit.
Boody told police that it was an accident that the youngest girl’s head was hit by the door, saying she had moved too slow to go out the door, according to the affidavit. He said he pushed the woman only because she was in his space, according to the affidavit.
