WATERVILLE, Maine — The principal at Waterville Senior High School, Don Reiter, is on administrative leave with pay but his attorney says neither of them know why.

Reiter’s attorney, Gregg Frame, said Saturday his client was told he was being put on leave but was not given a reason.

Waterville police confirmed Saturday afternoon a complaint about Reiter was received Thursday but wouldn’t give any more details.

Frame said he and Reiter will find out the nature of the allegations in a 2 p.m. meeting Tuesday with the superintendent and school attorney.

Frame said, “[Reiter] wants to return to school and the good work he’s doing. It cuts to the core of who you are when there’s all sorts of rumors and innuendos about the job there, but Don is really confident that he’ll return to the classroom next week or return to the school next week.”
