STANDISH, Maine — A woman was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Route 35, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Leavitt, 28, of Raymond and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Talisha Goodine-Mitchell of Westbrook, were the lone occupants of a vehicle Leavitt was driving, Capt. Don Goulet said in a statement.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m., the statement said.

When police arrived, power lines were down on the vehicle with Goodine-Mitchell still inside, the statement said. Leavitt was not injured.

Because of the power lines in the area, it took deputies time to remove Goodine-Mitchell from the vehicle, and the road was closed for several hours, according to the statement.

The statement said Goodine-Mitchell suffered critical injuries and was brought to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
