MACHIAS, Maine — Leah Hibbad’s goal in the second overtime lifted the Husson University Eagles to a 2-1 women’s soccer win over the University of Maine-Machias Clippers Tuesday.
Brooklynne Lewis scored an unassisted goal at the 44:52 mark in the first half to give the Clippers the lead, but Alison Boulier equalized for the Eagles at 70:24 in the second half when she converted a Kathryn McGinnis assist.
Boulier and Sydney Costa assisted on the winning goal.
Husson outshot UMM 43-6 with Aisling Farragher-Ge finishing with 15 saves for the Clippers (6-2). Jordyn Hopkins had two saves for Husson (3-3-1)
UNE 2, Bates 0
At Lewiston, Becca Murphy scored consecutive goals less than 10 minutes apart early in the second half as the University of New England shut out Bates.
Bates outshot UNE 35-17 with goalkeeper Brielle Robinson making 10 saves for UNE (5-2-0). Sarah McCarthy had eight saves for Bates (3-1-1).
Men’s Soccer
St. Joseph’s 3, UMF 1
At Standish, the St. Joseph’s College Monks snapped a 1-1 tie with two second-half goals to beat the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers.
Brett Mattos scored off a Ralph Houanche assist at 51:24 and Dalton Gaumer added an unassisted goal about nine minutes later to help the Monks improve to 5-3-1.
Johnny Thomas scored unassisted 4:57 into the game for St. Joe’s, but Ibrahim Achekh equalized for UMF 10 minutes later when he converted an Austin Dooley assist.
Matt Wilson made three saves for UMF (3-4-0) and Scott Benner had five for St. Joe’s, including two second-half penalty kicks.
Thomas 1, UNE 0
At Waterville, D.J. Nicholas scored the game’s only goal when he converted a London Steede-Jackson assist at the 25:09 mark to give the Terriers the victory over the University of New England.
Joakim Sternas made two save for Thomas (2-3) while Nate Diffin and Jake Rostkowski each finished with three for UNE (2-5).
Field Hockey
St. Joseph’s 2, USM 1
At Gorham, junior Kelsey Dumond scored a goal in each half to lead the St. Joseph’s College Monks by the University of Southern Maine Huskies.
Dumond scored at the 22nd minute off a Meghan Williams pass, but USM equalized three minutes later when Allison Ward scored after receiving an insertion pass from Kaitlin Hilton.
Dumond knocked in the game-winning goal off a rebound at the 66th minute.
Megan Baker made three saves for St. Joe’s (4-1) and Amanda Kasbohm finished with seven for USM (4-5).
