UNION, Maine — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to solve break-ins early Wednesday morning at two local businesses.
Between 2 and 4 a.m., the Union True Value and Come Spring Cafe were the target of burglaries, the sheriff’s office reported in a news release.
The burglaries are not believed to be related to a recent rash of commercial burglaries that included break-ins on Sept. 2 at J.C.Penney in Rockland and Aug. 30 at Flagship Cinemas in Thomaston, according to police. The methods used in the Union burglaries were different.
Detective Donald Murray said the suspect had a vehicle close by, possibly on or near the side of the road on Route 17, where the two businesses are located. Anyone who may have seen something unusual or a car in that area at the time in question is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 594-0677.
Investigators remained at the scene Wednesday morning, gathering evidence.
